Creating space
1. Easy access
Have your art journal and materials easily accessible, and remember where they are!
2. Create a Kit
If you want to have the option to be movable, you might want to create a kit, i.e. a tray or a box where you can find everything you need. These are great if you are on the move a lot. You can transfer some large container supplies (gesso, gel medium) into small containers. But remember, everything you decide to put in your kit should stay in there. If you move around the house a lot, how about acquiring one of those rolling carts, these are fabulous!
3. Arm's reach
If you have a dedicated space/ table/ desk, keep everything at arm’s reach so you don’t spend any time looking for a supply. It's right there when you need it. Same idea as a kit.
4. A messy business
Don't forget that art can be messy. Don’t forget to keep apron, old t-shirt, rags, jars of water, wipes and plastic sheets in your space or as part of your kit. This will allow you to go straight into messy wet creating without thinking about it...
Spend more time making art and less time setting up and cleaning up!
