Good morning all!

Now that we are almost half way through the whole project, some of you may have developed a creative practise and weekly if not daily habits. I would love to hear from you and particularly in what places outside of the art world do you find inspiration.

Some of you may say: I had this great idea, yet I feel guilty to use it as so and so already did it... Yep that happens all the time. But let me tell you something that may shock you:

Nothing is original.

And I will tell you something else...One of my daily practise is to ‘Steal’ from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels my imagination.

I steal images from movies, music, books, photographs; things that I see, hear, smell, touch or feel; shadows/ light, colors , shapes of clouds or buildings; I ears drop conversation and steal snippets of words. I pick words from lyrics overheard when I am in the shop or a line from a billboard; I unshamelessly recycle my dreams , or my child’s daydreaming sagas ... I am unstoppable!

Yet there is only one rule: I select only the things that echo directly to my soul.

What I will produce out of this sea of information and datas will be authentic.

We need to remember that from a very early age we learn to copy, we copy letters, alphabet, we learn how to do things by observing someone else doing it; it is the same with Art.

So steal away dear fellow artists and see where the path will bring you...

“It’s not where you take things from - it’s where you take them to."

Jean-Luc Godard

....

Today’s art prompt is:

Work only with red materials this week.

Enjoy!

Isabelle
