Good morning all

Week 12 ... and I am utterly confused ...which in my books tends to be a good thing ...allow me to explain. The last few weeks have been so busy creatively and in life in general that it really fells like a whirlwind caught me up and made me spin out of control. I do not know for you but the arrival of the springtide is always a bit of a trial, a season of change when we shift gear to move faster : more light, more time, more ideas, the creative sap is rising ....which very often results in ending up feeling confused and a little bit out of sort.

Now is the ideal time for me to consider what my creative practice looks like.

Now is time to sit down and reflect a little bit and look around

In the hive of activities which is a regular day in my household and studio life, I have to fight a daily battle to create order and simplicity in order to get things done. Mostly it feels like I am ‘flapping’ (love that word), that nothing is being done. I am being tricked by my own mind.

You see creative process does not look like much when you are in the middle of it

It doesn't feel like work.

It doesn't look like progress.

You collect papers,

Doodle on a page,

Accumulate bits and bobs

Have many pages, unfinished on the floor of the studio

It seems like nothing is happening

However you need to remember that this is a place of creation

Where nothing is really formed, yet where nothing and everything is happening at the same time. Every day. How beautiful is that!

The trick is to keep going without paying too much attention to the analytical mind that craves outcome and product .

It is exiting yet also terrifying and very often this fear paralyses us to the point of stand still...yet what you need to remind yourself is that uncertainty is what you depend on at this point. The unknown is your best friend. It will lead you places you have no control of and trust in the unknown is paramount.

“If we know exactly where we're going, exactly how to get there, and exactly what we'll see along the way, we won't learn anything. ” ― M. Scott Peck

So enjoy the process... immerse yourself fully in this creative bath and feel refreshed!

Week 12 art prompt:

“The cure for anything is salt water. Sweat, tears, or the ocean.”Isak Dinesen

Enjoy the ride!
